NIU Softball Team Falls to Purdue in Cardinal Classic

DEKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University softball team dropped its first game of the Cardinal Classic, falling to Purdue, 9-1, at Ulmer Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Purdue (5-8) jumped on top of the Huskies early with three runs in the first inning and two in the second. Northern Illinois got a run back in the bottom of the third when Dani Parrish (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) hit a two-out double to left center and Andrea Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) drove her in with a single to right.

However, Purdue held the Huskies (0-6) scoreless the rest of the way and tacked on three more runs in the fourth and another in the sixth to come away with the victory.
