Chouinard Adds Veteran to NIU Softball Coaching Staff

Nov. 11, 2011

DEKALB, Ill. - Liz Jagielski (Bouck), a former All-American for the DePaul Blue Demons, has joined the Northern Illinois University softball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant NIU head coach Lindsay Chouinard announced Friday.

"Liz is a specialist at what she teaches," NIU head coach Lindsay Chouinard said. "The impact she will have on our lefties offensively and our middle infielders defensively is irreplaceable."

Jagielski has spent the past seven seasons with the Blue Demons as an assistant coach, joining the Blue Demon staff in 2004. She helped the Blue Demons to two Women's College World Series and has twice (2005, 2007) been recognized with former head coach Eugene Lenti as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mideast Coaching Staff of the Year. In 2010, the DePaul coaching staff was honored as BIG EAST Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

"She has a special way with people and I am excited to see her mentor the girls," Chouinard said. "Any program would be lucky to have Liz as a part of it. I feel honored that she chose NIU."

Jagielski finished her career at DePaul holding the school record for most singles (248) and ranks among the top in stolen bases (101), runs scored (165), and hits (255). She has been named an All-American and was named to the C-USA All-Tournament team four times.

Following her college career, Jagielski was chosen in the first round of the National Pro Fastpitch League by the Arizona Heat. She has also played with the Texas Thunder and the Chicago Bandits.

Jagielski graduated from DePaul in 2003 with a degree in graphic design. She currently resides in Frankfort, Illinois with her husband Jon, daughter's Cassidy and Anna, and son Peyton.
