AUSTIN, Texas - The Northern Illinois University softball team dropped the second game of its doubleheader at the Texas Classic, 6-1 to Louisville Friday afternoon at McComb Field.

The Huskies (0-2), who dropped a 3-2 decision to Tulsa to start the tournament, fell behind early to the Cardinals. The game started out promising for the Huskies as they loaded the bases with two outs, Dani Parrish (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) led off the game with a single and Adriana Sanchez (San Fernando, Calif./Alemany) coaxed a walk.

Jennifer Barnett (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) reached on catcher's interference providing a Andrea Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) with an RBI opportunity. However, Colosimo struck out looking and NIU was unable to capitalize on an early scoring opportunity.

Louisville took advantage, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the second. The Cardinals effectively put the game away in the bottom of the fourth when they scored three runs to take a 6-0 advantage. The Huskies scored their run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Sanchez, scoring Parrish.

Parrish had a solid day at the plate for the Huskies. She followed up her 1-for-3, two RBI performance against Tulsa with a 3-for-4 afternoon against Louisville. She scored a run and had two stolen bases.
