Scott Wedige Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

DEKALB, Ill.- Northern Illinois University football player Scott Wedige (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) is one of 42 centers named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List. Given to the Most Outstanding Center in college football, the Rimington Trophy is named after Nebraska's two-time consensus All-America center Dave Rimington.

Wedige, a senior, started all 14 games for the Huskies in 2010 and was the anchor on the offensive line of the Mid-American Conference's top offense. Northern Illinois led the MAC in total offense last season, averaging 450 yards a game and its 260.4 yards rushing a game lead the league and was seventh in the nation. The Huskies also led the MAC in scoring offense averaging 38 points per game.

A first team All-MAC selection last season, Wedige was a preseason first team All-MAC selection from Phil Steele Magazine. Named the Huskies' offensive lineman of the week three times, Wedige helped pave the way to a season-high 544 yards rushing against Eastern Michigan which ranks second all time in school history. The Huskie offensive line also led the league and was 14th in the country in sacks allowed.

Wedige is one of four centers in the MAC to be named to the Watch List. Also named to the list are Chris Anzevino of Kent State, Bowling Green's Ben Bojicic and Kevin Galeher of Western Michigan.
