NIU Inks Meg Wolowicz to 2015 Recruiting Class

Nov. 12, 2014

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University volleyball team has signed Meg Wolowicz to a National Letter of Intent, NIU Head Coach Ray Gooden announced Wednesday.

Wolowicz joins the Huskies after a standout career at Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where she helped guide the Ships to conference titles two of the last three seasons and an appearance at the state tournament in 2014.

“Meg is a wonderful young lady with tremendous potential,” Gooden said. “We love how physical she is in her abilities to attack not only in the middle, but both pins. She continues to work on her overall game so she can be the most complete player possible.”

Wolowicz finished her career with LHS as one of the premier middle blockers in Wisconsin, as she was ranked as the fourth-best recruit in the state by MaxPreps.com. As a senior, she was named the Fox River Classic Conference’s Co-Player of the Year and collected all-state honors in helping lead the Ships to a 35-5 record. She also earned AVCA Girls High School All-American Honorable Mention recognition following the 2014 season. Prior to missing her junior year to injury, Wolowicz was a first team all-area and all-conference honoree as a sophomore, earning team offensive player of the year recognition for her efforts. At the club level, she played with Lakeshore Storm and Fox Cities Elite.

Outside of volleyball, Wolowicz was also a key member of Lincoln’s track and basketball teams, while qualifying for the state track meet as a sophomore in the shot put. She has also been named to the school’s honor roll every semester of her high school career.

NIU wraps up its regular season this weekend when they host Central Michigan Friday and Eastern Michigan Saturday. Both matches are slated for a 7:30 p.m. first serve in Victor E. Court.
