Huskies Add Match with Illinois

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team has added a match at the University of Illinois to its 2016-17 schedule. The Huskies will meet the Fighting Illini on Friday, Feb. 24, at 12:30 p.m., in Champaign.

The Huskies, who have won at least 15 dual matches in each of the last five seasons, have started the 2017 dual match season with a 6-2 record after completing a three-match sweep this past weekend against Green Bay, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Cardinal Stritch.

Illinois, who is ranked 17th in the most recent Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Rankings, is 2-2 to begin dual match season after facing three ranked opponents in its first four matches. The Fighting Illini posted a 20-11 overall record last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

NIU will return to the road this weekend as the Huskies travel to St. Louis, Mo., to take on the Billikens of Saint Louis University on Friday, Feb. 10.
