BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team won four matches Friday night, but two bonus-point victories late in the dual for the Indiana Hoosiers gave the hosts a 20-14 at University Gymnasium.
The Huskies won the opening match of the evening at 125 pounds, as
Bryce West (Solon, Iowa/Solon) defeated Elijah Oliver 11-7 to give NIU a 3-0 lead. Indiana won the next two matches at 133 and 145 pounds by decision to take a 6-3 advantage.
McCoy Kent (Modesto, Calif./Enochs) tied the match 6-6 for NIU, winning at 149 pounds over Breydon Bailey 11-4.

McCoy Kent wrestled well and put up a workmanlike performance to get us back on track."
Indiana (2-1) took back the lead with wins at 157 and 165 pounds to go up 12-6. The Huskies got back in the match in a big way as
Brit Wilson (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) earned a technical fall victory over Jake Hinz of the Hoosiers at 174 points. Wilson's 22-7 win got NIU within one, 12-11. However, Indiana earned major decision wins in the next two matches to take a 20-11 lead. NIU closed the match by winning the heavyweight bout, as
Caleb Gossett (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central) shut out Rudy Streck 3-0 to make the final score 20-14.
"
Brit Wilson continues to wrestle at a strong pace and put points on the board," Ludwig said. "His bonus-point victory kept us in the match. Gossett closed things out with a dominant win, riding out the whole second period."
The Huskies are back on the mat Friday, Dec. 7 against Illinois at the NIU Convocation Center at 7 p.m..
