DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team comes home for the final two matches of the regular season, beginning on Friday, April 13, as the Huskies host Toledo.
NIU comes into the weekend with a 14-6 overall record, 4-1 in Mid-American Conference play, as the Huskies currently sit in second-place in the conference. NIU has played one more league match than Western Michigan, who leads the league at 4-0, and third-place Buffalo, who is 3-1.
The Huskies are coming off back-to-back 4-3 victories over Ball State (March 31) and Binghamton (April 8).
Sophomore
Bor Schweiger Muzar (Crnomelj, Slovenia/Gimnm) is a perfect 5-0 in in conference dual matches, playing all five matches at number five. After missing the fall portion of the schedule, Muzar has compiled a 12-6 record in dual matches.
Muzar is one of three Huskies, along with senior
Louis-Philippe Hamel (Drummondville, Quebec, Canada) and freshman
Kristopher Ortega (Homer Glen, Ill./Seton Home Study School), to have 12 dual match victories this season. Muzar and senior
Georg Lundkvist (Linkoping, Sweden/Lindkopings Kommun) have a team-best 10 dual match doubles victories.
Toledo comes to NIU with a 3-14 overall record and a 0-4 mark in conference play. Toledo dropped a 4-0 decision to third-ranked Ohio State last time out (April 8), after back-to-back 5-2 setbacks in their last two conference duals against Ball State (March 24) and Buffalo (April 7). Thawin Suksathaporn has seven dual match victories to lead the Rockets while Luka Vitosevic and Danilo Vukotic
The Huskies will close the regular season next Friday, April 20, when they host Buffalo.
