NIU FOOTBALL 2018
NIU Postgame Notes
NIU vs. Central Michigan – Sept. 15, 2018
DeKalb, Ill. – Huskie Stadium

***The Huskies had four plays of over 20 yards Saturday. Tre Harbison had a 48-yard and a 35-yard rush, and Marcus Childers connected with D.J. Brown on completions of 37 and 24 yards.

***Senior Josh Corcoran saw his first action of the 2018 season and came up with a quarterback sack on CMU's first series. Corcoran missed the first two games of the year with a foot injury.

***NIU is now 16-17 all-time in MAC openers, and have now won six of their last seven.

***With the win, NIU broke a four-game losing streak to Central Michigan, dating back to the 2013 season. The victory also broke NIU's four-game losing streak that dated back

***The Huskies had their longest drive of the season in the second quarter, moving the ball 79 yards in 12 plays that took 5:34 off the clock. Marcus Childers capped the drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Spencer Tears.

***The NIU special teams blocked a kick for the third straight game as Sutton Smith got in to block a CMU punt in the second quarter to set up NIU's second touchdown.  It was the first blocked punt of Smith's career.  The Huskies blocked a field goal last week versus Utah (Jack Heflin) and had a blocked punt by Jauan Wesley versus Iowa.  NIU has now blocked 10 kicks since the beginning of last season.

***Huskie sophomore tailback Tre Harbison recorded the longest run of his NIU career, and the longest by an NIU player this year when he went for 48 yards in the third quarter to set up a Huskie touchdown. He also finished the game with a career best, and NIU team season best, 124 yards on 13 carries.

***Freshman Dennis Robinson recorded his first career catch with a seven-yard touchdown grab with 1:02 to play in the second quarter.

***Offensively, the Huskies posted season highs in points (24), rushing yards (180), and total offense (284 yards). NIU was also 4-for-4 in the red zone.

***NIU had a season-low four penalties for 44 yards.

***Antonio Jones-Davis led NIU with a career-high 16 tackles. Lance Deveaux tied his career-high nine stops and a forced fumble.

***Redshirt-freshman linebacker Vinny Labus picked off CMU quarterback Tommy Lazzaro with 0:17 left in the game to seal the win. It was his first career interception and the Huskies' second INT of the year.
