CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team picked up a pair of dominating victories at The Citadel Duals at McAlister Field House Saturday afternoon.

"We went in pursuit of points today," said NIU head coach Ryan Ludwig. "It was a good day for the team. The guys competed for each other and fed off the energy."

The Huskies (5-6, 1-2) posted a 33-7 victory over Hofstra and scored a 42-3 win over the host Bulldogs.

Eight NIU grapplers went undefeated on the day. Both duals started at 165 and both started with wins by Kenny Moore (San Diego, Calif./Hoover), Brit Wilson (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) and Will Feldkamp (Dexter, Mich./Dexter). Wilson and Feldkamp each recorded pin fall victories in their respective matches.

Caleb Gossett (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central) earned a 3-1 decision over Hofstra's Omar Hadded and a 10-1 maj. dec. victory over The Citadel's Michael McAleavey. Alijah Jeffery (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) was impressive, scoring a first period pin fall win against Jacob Martin of Hofstra and a tech fall victory over The Citadel's Charles Kearney.

Drew West (Solon, Iowa/Solon), McCoy Kent (Modesto, Calif./Enochs) and Mason Kaufman (Stratford, Wis./Stratford) won the final three bouts in each match to seal the victories for NIU.

The Huskies return to action Friday, Jan. 25 when NIU plays host to Missouri. The match will take place in the Duke Ellington Ballroom in the Holmes Student Center and starts at 7 p.m..
