DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Victor Spolidorio (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) picked up the lone point for the Huskies with a win at number six singles. 

"Obviously we got nothing out of this weekend," said NIU head coach Patrick Fisher. "Granted, we are playing an unbelievable schedule this year but I'm not sure we envisioned this type of start to the season. Disappointed is an understatement, we're not a bad team, we have to keep working and looking forward good things, big breakthroughs are coming. This is another big week, we play three really good teams and we will be ready."

Freshman David Pata (Bucharest, Romania) and senior Erich Schuette (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius), who already won a pair of doubles matches earlier in the weekend, held a 5-4 lead over Robert Krill and Chase Colton when the doubles was halted with Wisconsin having clinched the point. 

Spolidorio scored a 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 win over Daniel Nuzhny, playing at number six singles. The Badgers won four singles matches in straight sets and Lenard Soha outlasted junior Bor Schweiger Muzar (Crnomelj, Slovenia/Gimnm), 6-3, 6-7, 10-8, at number four. 

The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, February 2, when they host Creighton at 1 p.m., in Rockford at the Boylan Tennis Center.
