ROCKFORD, Ill. – After seeing its six-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday against Butler, the Northern Illinois University men's tennis team returned to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Green Bay on Sunday afternoon at Boylan Tennis Center. 

NIU (8-5) took the first point of the match, winning two doubles matches. Freshman David Pata (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and junior Bor Schweiger Muzar (Crnomelj, Slovenia/Gimnm) scored a 6-1 win at number two while seniors Eric Marbach (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) and Erich Schuette (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) took a 6-3 victory at number three. 

In the singles, Muzar and junior Shao-Yu Yu (Taipei, Taiwan/Jiang Guo High School) each earned wins in straight sets. Muzar topped Miles McDowall, 7-5, 6-1, at number three while Yu was victorious, 7-6, 6-4, against Tony Leto at number five. 

The Huskies then clinched the match with a pair of three-set victories. Freshman Mikko Malinen (Malmo, Sweden) earned a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Dipin Wadhwa and sophomore Victor Spolidorio (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) defeated Ivan Radomirovic, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, at number six. 

NIU will return to action on Saturday, March 9, when they face Valparaiso in Orlando, Fla.
