DeKALB, IL – NIU Football looks to remain perfect in Mid-American Conference play this Saturday when it hosts Bowling Green at 2:30 p.m. The #22 ranked men's soccer team puts its nine-match winning streak on the line Saturday night at 7 p.m. against #17 Bowling Green at the NIU Soccer And Track & Field Complex. Women's soccer, cross country, volleyball, men's tennis, and men's and women's golf are all in action this week as well.

For the third consecutive week, the NIU women's soccer team begins its two-game weekend away from home as the Huskies travel to Akron on Thursday night. Akron brings a 3-11 overall mark into the contest, including a 1-5 record in league play, kickoff against the Zips is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Huskies then return home on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Buffalo on Senior Day. Buffalo is currently 9-3-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the MAC.
Women's Cross Country

In its final meet before the conference championship, the NIU cross country team travels to Peoria on Friday to run in the Bradley Pink Classic. The Huskies are in the Red Race, scheduled for 3 p.m. on the Newman Golf Course. The 29-team field at Bradley includes a pair of MAC foes, Central Michigan and Western Michigan, as well as six additional in-state schools. Three different runners have led NIU in its first three races of the year with
Brooke Lytle,
Katelyn Robbins and
Sara Atkins each leading the Huskies once this season.

The NIU volleyball team goes on the road for the second straight weekend, this time taking on Ball State in a two-match series at Worthen Arena. The Huskies won both matches against the Cardinals last spring by 3-0 scores, marking the first time NIU swept a season series from Ball State since 2016. NIU split its two matches last weekend at Bowling Green and Miami. The Huskies rallied from 0-2 down last Saturday to defeat Miami 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-11). Freshman
Nikolette Nedic led the match with a season-high 23 kills.
Grace Balensiefer had a double-double with 55 assists and 10 digs. Balensiefer is second in the MAC, and 20
th in the nation, with 10.76 assists per set.
Men's Tennis
October 15-17: at Bulldog Cup, hosted by Drake
The NIU men's tennis team heads to Des Moines, Iowa, this weekend to compete in the Bulldog Cup, hosted by Drake. The tournament is the second event of the season for the Huskies after they opened the year at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational, where they earned wins in five flights, including
Oliver Valentinsson,
Mikael Vollbach and
Armin Koschtojan each winning their respective singles flights. NIU will be joined at Drake by DePaul and Wichita State. Play will begin on Friday at approximately 3 p.m. with competition resuming at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

NIU Football brings its first three-game winning streak since 2018 into Saturday's home game against Bowling Green after a 22-20 win at Toledo last week. Kicker
John Richardson made a school-record five field goals in the victory, the last a 29-yarder with 0:26 left to put the Huskies ahead for good. Richardson was named the MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, the seventh time an NIU player received a MAC weekly honor. Three of the last five mettings between NIU and Bowling Green took place in the MAC Championship game at Ford Field in 2013, 2014 and 2015. A full preview is available on

The 22nd ranked NIU men's soccer team will put its nine-match winning streak on the line on Saturday night when the Huskies welcome 17th ranked Bowling Green to DeKalb. Kickoff against the Falcons is scheduled for 7 p.m. NIU is coming off a 2-0 victory over fourth ranked West Virginia last Saturday (Oct. 9),
Adrian Lara and
Eddie Knight netted goals for the Huskies in the victory. Lara's performance earned him MAC Player of the Week honors along with two national team of the week recognitions. Bowling Green, the defending MAC Champions, come to DeKalb with a 9-2-1 overall record.

October 16-18: at Pat Bradley Invitational, hosted by FIU –

The NIU women's golf team is in action this weekend at the Pat Bradley Invitational, hosted by FIU at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. The Huskies finished seventh at the Johnie Imes Invitational at Missouri Sept. 29. Sophomore
Jasmine Ly tied for fourth in the event with a 54-hole score of four-under par 212. Ly finished the tournament with rounds of 69 and 71 on the par-72 course.
Ahra Ko also placed in the top-20, tying for 16
th at four-over par. The Huskies had their best team round of the early fall season in the second round at Missouri with a two-over par 290.

The NIU men's golf team plays its fourth tournament in four weeks beginning Monday at the Xavier Invitational, hosted by Xavier at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati. The Huskies finished 11
th at the Purdue Fall Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon. Senior
Tommy Dunsire tied for 31
st at Purdue with a 54-hole score of five-over par 221. NIU took second place at Xavier's tournament in 2019.
