Women's Golf | October 29

Northern Illinois University sophomore, Jasmine Ly (Windsor, Ontario/Holy Names HS) earned her third Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honor of the season Thursday after recording a fifth-place finish at the White Sands Invitational in Paradise Island, Bahamas last week.

Ly opened the tournament with one-over 73 and followed up with back-to-back rounds of two-under par 70 on the final two days. She finished with a score of three-under par 213, one stroke off from her career low of 212. Ly finished fifth in a field of 43 golfers and seven teams. Her 41 pars ranked third in the field.

"Jasmine has had a great fall," said NIU head coach Kim Kester. "Out of 12 rounds, she only shot over par three times and coming off the summer she had at the U.S. Women's Amateur and the Ontario Women's Amateur, she just carried that into this fall.

"Even coming back from the Bahamas, she was asking the rest of the team who wanted to practice the next day. When you have someone like that driving your team, the sky's the limit."

This was Ly's fourth consecutive top 10 finish of the Fall season. She scored three-over par 219 at the Huskies' season opener at the Redbird Invitational to finish seventh, tied for fourth at The Johnie Imes Invitational in Missouri with a score of four-under par 212, and had an eighth-place finish at the Pat Bradley Invitational where Ly posted two back-to-back rounds of two-under par 70 before posting a 76 in the final round.

Ly and her teammates are back in action in February at the Mid-American Match Play in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
