Women's Golf | September 29

PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa— Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) led the Northern Illinois University Huskies women's golf team, finishing tied for 11th at the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa.
 
Tallent carded two birdies in the opening round before shooting an even-par second round. In the final round, Tallent added a birdie on the 12th hole to finish tied for 11th individually.
 
Emile Chile (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) carded a birdie on the ninth hole of the opening round before adding an eagle on the sixth hole in the final round.
 
"It's been a very challenging three weeks with the three different events we played," said Kim Kester, NIU head women's golf coach. "All three tournament presented different difficulties…..We have a great group of ladies that really fight for every shot. We know this isn't where we want to be, but we are all motivated to get better in the coming weeks and work our tails off once off-season hits to be prepared to contend for a conference championship."
 
Thanaporn (Benzy) Buakong (Nonthaburi, Thailand/Yothinburana School) carded a birdie on the ninth hole of the opening round before adding a second birdie on the 15th hole in the final round.
 
Nethra Sheri (Irving, Texas/Coppell) recorded two birdies on the 12th hole, one in each of the first two rounds.
 
Christine Huse (Bærum, Norway/Norwegian Top Athlete School) carded three birdies during the tournament.
 
Rounding out the Huskies' competitors, Eva Nijenhuis (Heiloo, Netherlands/OSG Willem Blaeu) competed as an individual and opened her tournament with a birdie on the first hole.
 
As a team, NIU finished ninth in the field.
 
NIU will conclude action for the fall season on Oct. 18-19 at the Jim West Challenge, hosted by Texas State.
