SUGAR GROVE, IL - The Northern Illinois University men's golf team moved into a tie for fourth place Sunday after the second round of the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms.
Freshman
Ben Sluzas (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) and senior
Tommy Dunsire (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) entered the day tied atop the leaderboard at five-under par. Sluzas carded a round of one-over par 73 Sunday to put him at -4 and in a tie for seventh. He will enter Monday's final round two strokes behind Missouri's Jack Parker and Hunter Eichhorn of Marquette. Dunsire is tied for 18th at even par after a round of 77.
NIU's lowest scorer in its lineup Sunday was
Luc Warnock (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/E.J. Lajeunesse). The junior shot an even par 72, highlighted by three consecutive birdies at the seventh, eighth and ninth holes. Warnock is tied for 35th at two-over par.
Zach Place (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) matched Sluzas with a round of 73 which put him at one-over par for the event and in a tie for 24th.
Reece Nilsen (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills/GCU) rounded out the scoring group with a three-over par 75.
Graduate transfer
Michael Cascino (Palos Park, Ill./Providence Catholic/Butler) had the lowest round for any Huskie on Sunday. Playing as an individual, Cascino shot a one-under par 71 with six birdies on the card. He is in the group tied for 24th at one-over par through two rounds.
The Huskies were five-over par as a team on Sunday, falling into a tie for fourth at -4 with Nebraska. Missouri holds the team lead heading into the final round at -10 with Wisconsin three strokes back at -7. Purdue is in third at six-under par.
Monday's final round begins at 9 a.m.
