West Lafayette, Ind. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team had a solid showing at the Boilermaker Duals as the Huskies split their four duals at Holloway Gymnasium on Sunday.

Ryan Ludwig said. "We just need to continue to work on our execution in scoring position. Looking forward to our next opportunity."
The Huskies (2-3, 0-1) posted a 33-9 win over Brown, while scoring a 33-5 victory over Bellarmine. NIU suffered a 25-17 setback to Duke and fell to host No. 20 Purdue, 28-10.
Brit Wilson and Izzak Olejnik recorded perfect days for the Huskies, while
Anthony Cheloni and Javion Jones all earned three victories in their four bouts.
Olejnik was dominant in his four matches at 165, with two wins coming via fall and earning shutouts in his other two bouts. He posted a first period pin of Duke's Brandon LaRue, while scoring third period fall of Keegan Rothrock of Brown. It was one of three wins by pin for NIU against Brown.
Anthony Gibson earned a second period pin of Mason Spears at 157, while Jones took down Justin Bierdumpfel via a first period pin at 141.
The Huskie junior went on to post a 7-0 win over Bellarmine's Devan Hendricks before ending his afternoon with an 8-0 maj. dec. victory over Emil Soehnlen of Purdue.
Wilson remained perfect on the season following his day at the Boilermaker Duals. He opened his day with a 9-3 win over Brown's Drew Clearie before scoring a pair of maj. dec. victories, beating Vincent Baker of Duke 14-5 and Bellarmine's Sam Schroeder, 18-3. The Huskie All-American ended his day with a 7-3 triumph over Purdue's No. 23 Max Lyon.

In addition to his pin of Bierdumpfel, Jones earned a 12-0 maj. dec. over Duke's Patrick Rowland in his second match of the day and an 8-1 win over Logan Hoskins of Bellarmine. Cheloni earned three shutouts on the day at 149. He scored a 3-0 win over Brown's Ricky Cabanillas and Trey Kruse of Purdue. Sandwiched in between was a 13-12 loss to Duke's No. 13 Josh Finesilver and a 9-0 maj. dec. over Chase Yost of Bellarmine.
The Huskies return to the mat Saturday Dec. 4 when NIU travels to Edwardsville, Ill. to compete in the Cougar Clash, hosted by SIUE.
