DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball and wrestling teams are in action this week at the NIU Convocation Center this week, starting with Wednesday's women's basketball game against Ball State. NIU Gymnastics starts its 2022 season at Florida Friday night as men's basketball goes on the road Saturday to face Toledo.

NIU Women's Basketball looks to remain perfect at the Convocation Center this season when it hosts Ball State Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Huskies are 3-0 at home on the year, averaging 75.3 points per game. Junior
A'Jah Davis had a team-high 23 points and 17 rebounds at Central Michigan last Saturday. She is averaging 24.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game over her last two games after posting her MAC-leading sixth double-double of the season. The NIU women's gymnastics team opens its 2022 season in Gainesville, Florida on Friday when the Huskies compete in the Florida Quad Meet. Host Florida is ranked second in the 2022 Coaches' Preseason Poll while Rutgers is coming off its highest-ever finish at the Big Ten Championships.
The Huskies are led by returning NCAA qualifiers and MAC individual champions
Tara Kofmehl and
Natalie Hamp, and feature what head coach

Wrestling
Friday, January 7: Central Michigan, 7 p.m. – TV:
ESPN+
The NIU wrestling team is back in action Friday night with a MAC dual match against Central Michigan. The Huskies had four wrestlers place at last week's Illinois Matmen Open in Hoffman Estates. Redshirt-Senior
Mason Kauffman took second place in the 174-pound weight class. Izzak Olejnik battled through the wrestlebacks to take fourth place at 165.
Brit Wilson finished sixth at 187 pounds and
Lucian Brink took eighth place at 125 pounds. The dual with the Chippewas starts a three-meet homestand for NIU that includes matchups against Ohio and Oklahoma.

The Huskies return to action Saturday afternoon, opening MAC play at Toledo.
Keshawn Williams scored a season-high 25 points in NIU's last game at UIC on Dec. 19. Williams is averaging 18.4 points per game over the last five games. NIU is fourth in the league in scoring defense, allowing 67.0 points per game and second in three-point field goal percentage defense at 29.0 percent.
