DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team goes on the road Wednesday to face the Kent State Golden Flashes at 6 p.m. at the M.A.C. Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

NIU (10-12, 7-7 MAC) won the first meeting between the two teams at the Convocation Center 61-55 on Jan. 26. The Huskies held the Golden Flashes to 16.7 percent from the three-point line and just 32.7 percent from the field. A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]) led NIU with 16 points and seven rebounds in the first meeting. Janae Poisson (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) added 13 points.

That duo of Davis and Poisson helped lead NIU to a 69-64 overtime win over Buffalo on Saturday, which snapped the Bulls' five-game winning streak. Poisson led NIU with 26 points, scoring 17 in the second half and overtime. She made four three-pointers in the win to go back atop the Mid-American Conference with 2.82 three-pointers per game. Davis pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds and had 19 points for her 17th double-double of the season, tying the NIU single-season record for double-doubles in a season set by Ally Lehman in the 2016-17 year. She is now fourth in the nation in rebounding at 12.1 per game and fifth in double-doubles.

Kent State (15-7, 7-6) won its fifth straight game Saturday afternoon with a 64-61 win over Ball State. Katie Shumate led all players with 20 points as Casey Santoro added 16 points off the bench. The Golden Flashes are second in the MAC in both scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, allowing just over 60 points per game on 38.9 percent shooting. Kent State has the top rebound margin in the conference at +6.41 with NIU third at +3.82.
