KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback on Saturday afternoon (March 26) at conference leading Western Michigan. With the win, the Broncos improved to 9-7 on the season, including a perfect 5-0 in Mid-American Conference play, while the Huskies fell to 8-7 overall, 2-3 in the league.
A pair of 6-3 decisions gave Western Michigan the doubles point to open the matchup. Fynn Lohse and Arjun Honnappa scored the win at number one while Benjamin George and Brogan Pierce were victorious at number three for the Broncos. NIU's

Oliver Valentinsson had a 4-3 lead at number two when WMU had clinched the point.
In singles, Honnappa scored the first point for the Broncos with a 6-0, 6-2 win at number five. Pierce followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at six and the hosts clinched the match when George finished a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number four.
At number three,
Mikko Malinen and Lohse went the distance after splitting the first two sets, with Lohse claiming the 10-point third set, 11-9.
NIU will return home for a pair of matches next weekend. The Huskies will host Binghamton on Friday, April 1, at 2 p.m. before meeting Buffalo on Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m.
