
DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University student-athletes combined for a cumulative grade point average of 3.345 during the Spring 2022 semester as NIU Athletics marked nine years – 18 semesters – in which student-athletes have combined for a semester grade point average above 3.0.
Thirteen of the Huskies' 17 teams posted a semester GPA of 3.0 or above in the Spring semester, led by the NIU tennis teams. Men's tennis led all Huskie squads with a term GPA of 3.825 and continue to lead all NIU men's teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.779. Women's tennis took the term title among the Huskie women's teams at 3.814 for the spring, while gymnastics continues to lead all programs in cumulative grade point average with a 3.820 mark. Every NIU team has a cumulative GPA of 2.855 or above.
In all, 267 student-athletes finished the spring 2022 term with a GPA of 3.0 or above, with 64 earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. There are 25 Huskie student-athletes who own a cumulative GPA of 4.0, including CoSIDA Academic All-District selections

The final GPA tallies come in a week after 74 NIU student-athletes earned either their undergraduate or master's degrees from NIU.
