DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team looks to keep its momentum rolling into Friday night's date with Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant.
NIU will take on the Chippewas at 6 p.m. CT at McGuirk Arena, marking its third Mid-American Conference dual of 2022-23. The Huskies (5-3, 2-0 MAC) remain perfect in league action and atop the MAC West division while CMU (0-5, 0-1 MAC) is still searching for its first victory.
NIU trails in its all-time series with the Chippewas 13-32 with the latest matchup going CMU's way 33-6 Jan. 7, 2022, at Victor E. Court.
Michael Kaminski and
Mason Kauffman logged wins over Vince Perez and Bret Fedewa, respectively.
NIU is coming off a 20-15 win over Cal Baptist (1-6, 0-2 Big 12) in which six Huskies recorded a win with two (
Jaivon Jones and
Anthony Gibson) logging bonus-point triumphs.
CMU most recently dropped its opening MAC dual with Clarion (4-3, 3-1 MAC) 25-12.
Looking ahead, NIU will travel to Athens to face Ohio (2-1, 2-0 MAC) Jan. 20.
