DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team finishes its eight-dual road stretch Friday (Jan. 20) with a matchup against Ohio in Athens at 6 p.m. CT. The event will broadcast live on
ESPN+ from the University of Ohio's Convocation Center.
NIU (5-4, 2-1 MAC) enters the contest locked in a tie for second in the Mid-American Conference West with Central Michigan while Ohio (2-5, 2-0 MAC) is tied for first with Buffalo in the same division.
In the Huskies most recent competition last Friday, NIU lost 23-18 to CMU after the Chippewas won the final six of seven bouts to secure a comeback win. No. 14

Jacob Brya logged falls in the match as Olejnik pinned Chandler Amaker at 2:06 while Brya pinned Jimmy Nugent at 5:49. The pair have combined for 14 bonus-points wins for NIU thus far in the season.
Ohio enters Friday after losing four duals to extremely stout competition at this past weekend's Virginia Duals. The Bobcats lost to hosts Virginia 23-10, No. 23 Maryland 27-13, Oklahoma 33-6, and No. 18 South Dakota State 42-3.
Ohio leads the all-time series with NIU 17-11-1 with the latest matchup going Ohio's way 27-10 last season at Victor E. Court.
