DeKALB, Ill.—The Northern Illinois University wrestling team returns to the mat on Friday (Oct. 27) at 7 p.m. with the annual Red-Black Dual, an intrasquad scrimmage. The dual is free to the public to attend, taking place in the NIU Convocation Center.
"Our guys have been working their tails off in the wrestling room and in the weight room," said NIU head coach Ryan Ludwig. "We've had an exciting fall and lots of competition in practice. The team has been getting to work and vying for the top spot. We are thrilled to welcome fans to see what is in store for Huskie wrestling this season."
The dual serves as a preseason finale for the Huskies prior to the official start of the 2023-24 season.
The Huskies will open the season at home on Nov. 3 in the Huskies Duals, facing off against Lindenwood University and St. Ambrose University.
The Huskies welcome 11 newcomers to the program, including three transfers.
Fans coming to the wrestling match should note the NIU volleyball team will be in action at 6 p.m. in Victor E. Court and the NIU Clear Bag Policy will be in effect.
