NIU Athletics Partners with RealResponse

Platform Will Enhance Communication Between Huskie Student-Athletes and Administrators

GEN23 - RealResponse Partnership

General | December 5

DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University Athletics has partnered with RealResponse, a powerful, web-based platform, to provide NIU with tools to enhance communication with student-athletes through surveys and anonymous reporting methods, as well as an organized system for managing and sharing important documents among administrators.

NIU will make use of three aspects of the RealResponse platform to move the Huskie program forward:
  • Standardizing and improving NIU's end of the year student-athlete surveys, allowing for more clear and complete program evaluations;
  • Providing student-athletes with the ability to anonymously express their feelings in real time about positive experiences and areas of concern within their programs and the department;
  • Organizing sensitive and important documents regarding eligibility, compliance and more so that administrators across multiple areas can access and communicate more efficiently.
"We are always looking at ways in which we can more effectively serve NIU student-athletes, and the RealResponse platform allows us to do just that," said Sean T. Frazier, NIU Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation. "Providing student-athletes with more opportunities to give us real-time feedback about their NIU experience, to anonymously report concerns and to take more ownership of their programs is extremely important to continuing to provide the best possible student-athlete experience."

The RealResponse platform is used by more than 125 colleges and universities as well as national governing bodies and leagues to foster environments that encourage open communication and lead to stronger, unified organizations.

"Above all else, we are committed to creating a college experience in which student-athletes can thrive and succeed on all levels, from academics to their chosen sport," said RealResponse Vice President of Client Success Parker Moye. "We welcome Northern Illinois University Athletics into our collegiate athletics community and will devote our energy to supporting their efforts in elevating the voices of their student-athletes."

RealResponse has already been introduced to NIU student-athletes' leadership groups including the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Captain's Council. It will be in place for use by NIU student-athletes for end of the year surveys in December, while anonymous reporting and document repository elements will be instituted in January 2024.
