DeKALB, Ill. – Just one dual win behind the top-spot in the Mid-American Conference West Division, the Northern Illinois University wrestling team concludes the regular season with a road matchup against SIUE this Sunday (Feb. 19) at 1 p.m. inside the First Community Arena. The dual will be streamed live on
ESPN+.
The Huskies (7-5, 4-1 MAC), ranked No. 18 in the NWCA Mid-Major Poll, look to end the regular season with another league dual win before the annual MAC Championships March 3-4 in Fairfax, Va.
NIU has a commanding 35-3-1 advantage in its all-time series with the Cougars. Last season when the pair met, The Huskies dismantled SIUE 35-3 on Senior Day behind three bonus-point wins, five decisions and one forfeit.
NIU enters the weekend with the MAC and NCAA Wrestler of the Week,
Blake West, in its lineup. In last weekend's dual versus Northwestern, West defeated No. 8 Michael DeAugustino 7-2 in tiebreaker II, his fifth-straight win.
SIUE (6-7, 2-6 MAC) concludes its regular season on a two-dual win streak, beating Ohio (4-9, 3-3 MAC) and Little Rock (5-10, 1-4 PAC 12) last Sunday at home.
