DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's soccer team begins its five-match spring schedule this weekend as the Huskies welcome Loyola Chicago to the NIU Soccer Complex on Sunday, March 26. NIU's spring opener against the Ramblers is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Huskies will then travel for the only time during their spring slate as they visit Milwaukee on Saturday, April 1.
Three consecutive home weekends follow the trip to Milwaukee, beginning with a Friday evening (April 7) contest against Wisconsin Parkside. Kickoff against the Rangers is scheduled for 7 p.m. On Sunday, April 16, NIU will meet Illinois State at 1 p.m., before the Huskies finish the spring slate on Saturday, April 22 against Lewis at 3:30 p.m.
Under first-year head coach
Michael O'Neill, NIU finished the 2022 season with a 6-8-4 overall record, 3-6-2 in Mid-American Conference play. The six wins overall, and three conference victories, are both the most for the program since 2017. NIU's eight losses are the fewest in a season since the 2008 campaign.
