KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback at Western Michigan on Saturday (April 15) in its final regular season Mid-American Conference match of the season. Iker Gaztambide Arrastia and Christopher Norlin earned a doubles victory in the matchup against the Broncos. 

MAC leading Western Michigan took the first point of the contest with doubles wins at one and two.  Arjun Honnappa and Fynn Lohse were victorious at number one while Peter Kuszynski and Anton Arzhankin combined for the victory at two. 

Gaztambide Arrastia and Norlin scored a 6-3 victory at three for NIU against Benjamin George and Ferdinand Schlueter as the Huskie tandem improved to 7-0 on the season. 

In singles, the Broncos scored a trio of straight sets wins with Arzhankin at two, Kuszynski at three and Lohse at five. 

Honnappa outlasted Gaztambide Arrastia at number four, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, while Western Michigan also won a pair of matches with 10-point third sets as George claimed a 7-6, 4-6, 10-4 win at number one and Jackson Boone came from behind at six for a 6-7, 7-5, 10-5 triumph. 

NIU will close the regular season on Monday, April 17, when they host Saint Louis at the Nelson Tennis Center at Chick Evans Field House.
