THE HISTORY
In a series that dates to 1985, the Huskies have an opportunity to knot the all-time series as NIU trails 28-31.
Last season, NIU won two-of-three games against BGSU on the road. The Huskies utilized 13 hits combined and engineered the lone run in game one on a sacrifice bunt while collecting two extra base hits to produce two of their five runs in the second game to sweep the opening doubleheader.
LAST TIME OUT
NIU (24-24, 13-12 MAC) is fresh off a road series win over Buffalo last weekend. On Saturday, NIU beat the Bulls 3-2 in the series opener behind nine strikeouts from freshman pitcher
Danielle Stewart, a career-high, but fell 4-2 in game two. On Sunday, NIU rebounded for a series-winning 6-2 triumph after Stewart rang up another nine Bulls. Additionally, senior
Kelly Walinski's seventh-inning two RBI homer helped propel NIU to the four-run win.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
BGSU (8-39, 1-26 MAC) is on a 24-game skid as it ends its season this weekend in DeKalb. Most recently, the Falcons dropped their final home series of 2023 to Kent State last weekend. Sophie Weber leads the team in the batter's box batting .305. She also paces the team in hits (40), doubles (10), home runs (three), RBI (18), total bases (61) and slugging percentage (.466).
