IOWA CITY, Iowa— Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) led the Northern Illinois University Huskies women's golf team with a top-20 finish as the Huskies competed at the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa.
The Huskies placed 11th as a team, recording 16 birdies at the tournament.
"We have to learn from this week and rebound for next week. We were battling against wind both days. The team continued to fight against elements and I'm proud of the effort," said NIU head coach
Kim Kester.
Tallent recorded two consecutive birdies in the second round, as she shot four over in that round. With a single birdie in the first round, Tallent shot two over par as she led the Huskies after the first two rounds. Tallent went eight over in her final round to lead the Huskies at the tournament.
Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) had the most birdies of any round for the Huskies, with three in the first round. Ouellet recorded five birdies for the Huskies over three rounds. Ouellet had the lone birdie of the third round for the Huskies, grabbing a top-40 finish.
Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) marked two consecutive birdies in the first round while
Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) had two birdies in the second round.
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) carded a pair of birdies in the first and second rounds for the Huskies.
The Huskies continue action this fall as they compete at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah at Medinah Country Club, Oct. 7-8.
