DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois University Gymnastics and interim head coach Nita Teague have announced the signing of Elizabeth Poncin and Syvanna Navarro to the class of 2025.

"We are thrilled to welcome Elizabeth and Syvanna to the Huskie family," Teague said. "These talented athletes will have an immediate impact in the gym and in the classroom."

Poncin is from Tinley Park, Ill. and attends Tinley Park High School. Poncin competes for United Gymnastics Academy in Tinley Park. She was a regional qualifier in 2023 and 2024 and has competed as a level 10 gymnast since 2022. 

Navarro is from Fishers, Ind. and attends Hamilton Southeastern High School. She competes for JPAC Indiana in Greenfield where she is a level 10 gymnast and has been since 2022. In both 2023 and 2024 Navarro earned national qualifying status; she was the 2023 Indiana Floor champion.

These signings mark the Huskies' first of the 2026 NIU gymnastics team.
