Women's Soccer | December 5
KANSAS CITY, Mo. –
Tyra King of the Northern Illinois University women's soccer team has been named to the All-Midwest Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches.
King was critical to the Huskies' offensive success in 2024 as she found the net a team-high eight times and recorded five assists while starting all 19 games. King's eight goals and 21 points were the most for a Huskie in a single season since Karen Enockson scored nine goals and tallied 22 points in 2006.
With King leading the way offensively, NIU won nine matches in 2024, matching its highest total since winning 10 in 2007. King and the Huskies scored 29 goals during this past season, the best single-season total since netting 48 in 1998.
King is the first Huskie women's soccer player to earn All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America) since Anne Mucci and Debbie Hutson claimed All-Great Lakes Region honors in 1998.
This season, nine MAC players earned All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches as King is joined on the All-Midwest Second Team by Madi Canada (Western Michigan), Taylor Hamlett (Miami), Frederique St-Jean (Buffalo) and Heidi Thomasma (Western Michigan). Western Michigan's Jen Blitchok earned first team honors while Alisa Arthur (Kent State), Siena Stambolich (Kent State) and Lexie Thompson (Buffalo) received third team recognition.
