DeKalb, Ill. – The Northern Illinois university men's tennis team defeated Toledo 6-1 inside the Nelson Tennis Center at Chick Evans Fieldhouse on Sunday to make it a 2-0 weekend in MAC play. The Huskies took down Buffalo 5-2 on Friday.

NIU (15-3, 4-1 MAC) earned their 13^th win in their last 14 duals.

"Taking care of business is a habit," head coach René Vidal said. "Credit to our guys for their level of preparation and today's win. We have lots more work ahead."

The Huskies took the doubles point to open the match against Toledo (8-9, 3-2 MAC).

Christopher Norlin (Stockholm, Sweden) and Iker Gaztambide Arrastia (Pamplona, Spain) took a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. Cheng En Tsai (Taipei, Taiwan/Abraham Baldwin CC) and Mikael Vollbach (Rothis, Austria) earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles to clinch the point.

Tsai opened up singles play and controlled his match as he won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to improve to 12-3 on the season.

Arrastia pushed the Huskies lead to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.

Vollbach clinched the Huskies dual win with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles over the Rockets' Hanamichi Carvajal.

Saul Berdullas (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) extended the Huskies lead to 5-0 with a come from behind 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.

Norlin controlled his match and took a win at No. 6 singles in two sets 6-1, 6-3.

NIU will be back in action on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. as they host UIC at the Nelson Tennis Center.
