Ben Sluzas and Felix Krammer Named To All-MAC Second Team

MGOLF - All-MAC 5-3-24

Men's Golf | May 3

DeKALB, IL – Juniors Ben Sluzas (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) and Felix Krammer (Waakirchen, Germany/Arkansas State) of the Northern Illinois University men's golf team were named to the All-MAC Second Team Friday as the Mid-American Conference announced its postseason all-conference teams.

Sluzas earned an All-MAC honor for the second consecutive year after garnering a first-team honor last season. He led NIU in scoring average this season at 72.121, the third-lowest single-season stroke average in program history. Seventeen of his 33 rounds this season were even par or lower. Sluzas was named MAC Co-Golfer of the Week on Sept. 21 after tying for eighth place at the VCU Shootout with a season-best nine-under par 207. He had two other top-10 finishes this spring, tying for sixth at the Hawkeye Invitational and tying for ninth at last weekend's MAC Championship.

"Ben followed up a historic campaign last year with one of the most consistent individual seasons in NIU men's golf history," said head coach John Carlson. "He has earned the respect of the coaches in the MAC through his body of work and is deserving of this honor."

Krammer was second on the team with a stroke average of 72.789 in his first season at NIU. He also earned a MAC Co-Golfer of the Week honor this season for his performance at Wisconsin's Badger Invitational. Krammer tied for fourth place with a five-under par 211. The junior had four top-20 finishes this season, capping his season by tying for 12th at the MAC Championship.

"Felix played his best golf when our team needed it most this spring," Carlson said. "His head-to-head record against MAC opponents earned him a place on the All-MAC Second Team."

NIU tied for third at last weekend's MAC Championship. It was the fourth straight year the Huskies finished in the top-three at the conference tournament, winning it in 2023 for the first time in almost 40 years. NIU is one of four MAC programs to have multiple All-MAC selections this season.
