DEKALB, Ill. – Men's basketball returns home on Tuesday against Lindenwood while women's track and field competes for the first time this season and women's basketball and wrestling will also be in action this week in Huskie Athletics.

NIU men's basketball returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 1) when the Huskies host Lindenwood in the first all-time meeting between the two programs. A full preview of Tuesday's contest is available on NIUHuskies.com. Tuesday's contest will be NIU's first game in a week following the cancellation of Saturday's contest against Bellarmine.
The Huskies will then travel to Peoria on Saturday (Dec. 6), to face Bradley. Saturday's game is just the 12th all-time meeting between the in-state foes, and just the second since 2010.

The NIU women's basketball team opens the month of December with road games at Indiana State on Wednesday night and at #10 Iowa State on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies had a two-game winning streak snapped on Sunday at Evansville in a 65-52 loss.
Nevaeh Wingate and
Julia Sollberger led the Huskies with 12 points each. Sollberger is the third different Huskie to score in double figures off the bench so far this season.
This is the third consecutive season the Huskies and Sycamores will face each other. NIU has won the last two, earning an 82-78 win last season in Lexington, Ky. On Sunday, the Huskies will face a ranked opponent for the first time in three seasons when they head to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State. NIU last faced the Cyclones in the 2018 preseason WNIT, a 70-60 Iowa State win.
Wrestling
Friday-Saturday, December 5-6: Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Las Vegas, Nev.)
The NIU Wrestling team returns to the mat as they are set to compete at the annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Tournament, Dec. 5-6. Action is set to get underway at 11 a.m. CT on Dec. 5 with wrestling taking place at the Westgate Hotel Paradise Event Center. Championship finals will take place at 5 p.m. CT on Dec. 6. A total of 32 teams will compete with the MAC being represented by NIU, Ohio, and Rider.
The Huskies were last in action on November 21 as they competed at Bellarmine.
Blake West claimed his 100th career-win in the dual while
Tommy Bennett,
Tyler Turzinski, and
Devon Dawson all claimed wins for the Huskies. Dawson's win was his third straight dual win and second win over a ranked opponent.
Track & Field
Friday, December 5: Blue & Gold Invitational (South Bend, Ind.)
The NIU women's track and field team begins the indoor season on Friday (Dec. 5) as the Huskies travel to South Bend, Ind., for Notre Dame's Blue & Gold Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 noon CT with the long jump and weight throw, running events are slated to start at 1:30 p.m. CT with the 60-meter hurdles. Jasmijn Raes took top honors in the high jump,
Roshell Rowe claimed the title in the 400-meter dash and
Precious Umukoro was victorious in the long jump.
This will be the lone meet for the Huskies before the new year when they return to action at Iowa State's Bill Bergan Open on Friday, Jan. 16.
