MUNCIE, Indiana—Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) is leading the Huskies on the leaderboard as the Northern Illinois University women's golf team opened action at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships at the Delaware Country Club in Muncie.
Raines is sitting in a tie for fifth overall, recording the lone par for the NIU squad today. Raines carded three birdies in her opening round, including a pair of consecutive birdies on the front nine.
"Overall, please with the day. (The) ladies fought hard today and eliminated the big numbers," said NIU head coach
Kim Kester. "(We) kept it consistent and was great to see Mia have an even par round."
Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) went four-over par in her opening round as she is in a tie for 23rd overall. Ouellet carded two birdies in her first round.
Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) and
Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) had top-30 finishes after the first round, carding a 77 and 78 respectively. Tallent opened and ended her round with a birdie.
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) rounded out the Huskies on the course and carded the lone birdie on the 18th hole for NIU.
Action resumes at the Delaware Country Club on April 21 and 22. NIU will tee off beginning at 9:20 a.m. CT for the second round of action. After Monday's (April 21) second round and Tuesday's (April 22) third round, a highlights show will debut on ESPN+ at 8 p.m. recapping action from the course.
