Felix Krammer and
Craig Long have been named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America for their achievement in the classroom and their success on the golf course this past season.
"The commitment required as a student-athlete to play at the highest level in our sport while excelling in the classroom in extremely high, and Ben, Felix and Craig have set the standard for our program," said head coach
John Carlson.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors, an individual must be at least a sophomore or higher in both academic and athletic eligibility with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. The student-athlete must also have played in 50 percent of their teams competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0.
Sluzas was named an All-America Scholar for the third consecutive season. He finished his NIU career as the program's career leader in scoring average at 72.809. Sluzas was second on the team with a 72.468 scoring average this season with three top-five finishes. He earned his third All-MAC selection with a place on the second team.
Krammer earned his second All-America Scholar honor after leading NIU with a 72.171 scoring average. He tied the NIU single-round scoring record with an eight-under par 64 on Sept. 29 at the Badger Invitational, going on to tie for second place individually while leading the Huskies to the team title. Krammer was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for his performance and was an All-MAC First Team selection.
This is Long's first All-America Scholar honor. Long led NIU with at the MAC Championship this season, tying for fourth place with a 54-hole score of two-under par 214. He also had three top-10 finishes in his sophomore season.
The Huskies have had at least three golfers earn All-America Scholar honors in three consecutive seasons.
