NIU Men’s Golf Receives PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award

Huskies Earn Presidents Special Recognition For Team GPA Of 3.5 Or Higher

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University men's golf team received the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award on Tuesday from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
 
A GCAA-record 292 schools across six different division of college golf earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award for a team grade point average of 3.0 or above. NIU was one of 75 NCAA Division I programs to earn a Presidents Special Recognition for having a team GPA of 3.5 or higher. The Huskies had a team GPA for the 2024-25 season of 3.73.
 
"Team awards are a reflection of our collective effort," said head coach John Carlson. "Our entire team is committed to excellence, both in the classroom and on the course. We are proud to be recognized with this honor by the GCAA. It speaks to the dedication of every member of our program, including our academic advisor Juan Navarro."
 
Last week, graduated seniors Ben Sluzas and Felix Krammer along with current junior Craig Long were named All-America Scholars by the GCAA. Those three student-athletes hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and had a stroke average of 76.0. Those three student-athletes, along with Patrick Bruminhent, were also named to the Mid-American Conference All-Academic Team.
