Huskies Take on Wisconsin-La Crosse at Home

NIU Faces Second Non-Conference Opponent of Season

DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University gymnastics team is set to face Wisconsin-La Crosse in a dual meet this Sunday at the NIU Convocation Center at 1 p.m. The meet with be broadcasted on ESPN+.

Sunday's meet is Youth and Club Day and the team will be available for autographs shortly after.

NIU fell to Ball State, 193.800-191.050, in its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 24. Freshman Avery Riiff (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way East) led the Huskies in two events, scoring a 9.825 on beam and a 9.700 on bars. Riiff's 9.825 beam score is the highest for NIU this season.

The Huskies placed three in the meet against the Cardinals with Dawsyn Sallee (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County High) taking second on vault, Mikayla Brown (Suwanee, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) finishing second on floor and Alanah Wallace (Frisco, Tex./Frisco) tying for third on floor.

NIU last faced Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2024 when the Huskies competed against the Eagles in a quad meet at the Convo.

The Eagles won their 18th National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championship last season and returned three individual champions in Grace Kehr (vault), Raina Christenson (beam) and Claire Robbins (beam).

This season, UW-La Crosse has won all four events in each of its last two meets. The Eagles have an average team score of 192.558 with their highest scoring event of the year on beam when UW-La Crosse earned a 48.800 in its season opener.
