DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team looks to build on Wednesday night's win at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon when it hosts the Bowling Green Falcons at the NIU Convocation Center. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.

NIU (3-11, 1-2 MAC) forced 17 Buffalo turnovers Wednesday night, turning them into 16 points in a 64-58 win that snapped a seven-game losing streak. The Huskies are forcing 18 turnovers per game to start Mid-American Conference play with a +3.7 turnover margin.
Freshman guard
Emilie Sorensen (Waukee, Iowa/Waukee) led all scorers with a season-high 20 points at Buffalo. Sorensen was 5-for-6 from the field with four three-pointers and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She is the first NIU freshman to score at least 20 points in a game since Janae Poisson had 27 in a Huskies win at Kent State on Jan. 11, 2017. Sorensen leads NIU with 33.62 minutes played per game, which is fifth among all NCAA D-I freshmen.
The Huskies had a season-high 16 assists on 23 made field goals against the Bulls.
Maria Serracanta (Sabadell, Spain/Mercer) tied her career-high with six assists on Wednesday. Over the last four games Serracanta has 20 assists with only five turnovers. She is now fourth in the MAC with a 1.62 assist/turnover ratio.
Bowling Green (8-6, 1-2 MAC) has dropped its last two MAC games after a 68-56 loss to Central Michigan on Jan. 3 at Stroh Center. It was the Falcons' first loss at home this season. Senior Kendal Moxey led Bowling Green with a career-high 16 points and 15 rebounds. Paige Kohler added 11 points. Kohler leads Bowling Green in scoring at 14.7 points per game. Johnea Donahue, a two-time MAC Player of the Week this season, is averaging 12.6 points and a MAC-leading 3.67 steals per game.
The Falcons lead the all-time series against NIU 30-22. The two teams split last season's two games with the home team winning each meeting. NIU rallied from 21 points down on March 1, 2025 to force overtime and eventually beat Bowling Green 84-77 in double overtime.
NIU goes on the road on Wednesday, January 14 to take on Toledo. Tip-off at Savage Arena is set for 6 p.m. CT.
