Gaztambide Arrastia Earns Second MAC Singles Player of Week

Senior Receives Recognition Following 3-0 Weekend

DeKALB, Ill. – Iker Gaztambide Arrastia of the Northern Illinois University men's tennis team has been named the Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Gaztambide Arrastia earned the honors following a 3-0 weekend at No. 1 singles for the Huskies, posting wins against Southern University, Omaha and Wisconsin-Whitewater. The senior is now 7-0 in the dual season with all seven wins coming at the top court.

It is the second time this season Gaztambide Arrastia has been named MAC Singles Player of the Week, first earning the recognition on Jan. 26 following No. 1 wins over IU Indy and Illinois State. The senior also earned MAC Doubles Team of the Week along with Federico Scotuzzi.

The Huskies hit the road for their next three matches, beginning with Wisconsin this Saturday, Feb. 21.
