Huskies Wrap Regular Season at Minnesota Quad

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Northern Illinois University gymnastics team completed its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon at Minnesota, competing against Illinois, Iowa and host Minnesota. NIU finished with a team score if 191.400.

The Gophers finished first in the meet with a team score of 197.825, followed by Iowa, Illinois and NIU. Senior Jocelyn Harbeck (Frankfort, Ill. / Lincoln-Way East) competed as an all-arounder for the first time in her career, finishing with a 38.550.

"Jocelyn completed all-around today and I'm so proud of her hard work and perseverance," said head coach Nita Teague. "To end your college career with your first all-around performance is impressive."

Harbeck finished the meet with a 9.725 on both vault and beam while earning a 9.600 on floor and a 9.500 on bars. The senior tied a career-high on beam.

Junior Dawsyn Sallee (Versailles, Ky. / Woodford County High) led the way on vault with a 9.775 and has finished each meet this season with a 9.700 or higher. Sophomore Audrey Brenner (Fond du Lac, Wis. / Fond du Lac) also finished with a team-high 9.775 on vault.

Senior Samantha Nickle (Yorktown, Va. / York) and sophomore Drake White (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) each scored on a 9.725 on floor.

Rotation One – Floor, 47.775
Sallee led off NIU on floor with a 9.675 and was followed by Harbeck's 9.600. Nickle and White rounded out the rotation with a pair of 9.725 scores.

Rotation Two – Vault, 48.500
The Huskies highest event score came from vault with a team score of 48.500. Brenner and Sallee paced NIU with 9.775 each, just ahead of Harbeck's 9.725.

Freshman Syvanna Navarro (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) competed for the first time in her college career, scoring a 9.350 from the anchor position.

Rotation Three – Bars, 47.075
Freshman Makenna Brooks (Kokomo, Ind. / Eastern) led NIU on bars for the first time this season with a 9.650. Sophomore Maria King (Nashville, Tenn. / Currey Ingram Academy) had the second-highest score with a 9.575.

Rotation Four – Beam, 48.050
Harbeck tied a career-high on beam with a 9.725 while Nickle and Sallee each added a 9.625.

NIU will competed in the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday, March 21.
