DEKALB, Ill. – Baseball, softball and men's tennis will all be in action at home this week, highlighting this week in NIU Athletics. The Huskie women's tennis team will also be in action on the road while the women's track and field team will compete outdoors for the first time this spring.

NIU Baseball is on the road Tuesday to take on Eastern Illinois before a home series against Bowling Green this weekend. The Huskies swept the reigning MAC champions Miami this past weekend for the first time since 2012. Senior catcher
Ivan Dahlberg led NIU offensively with four home runs and nine RBI, including the 10th-inning walk-off grand slam last Friday. The Huskies are 6-3 in the MAC for the first time since 2019, and are 3-0 at home for the first time since 2013. NIU split its home-and-home against Eastern Illinois last season with the road team winning each game. The Huskies went 1-2 at Bowling Green last season. The Falcons are 3-6 in the MAC after dropping two out of three games to Ohio last weekend.

The Huskie softball team returns to Mary M. Bell Field to start a five-game series this weekend as they welcome UMass. First pitch will be on Friday night in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. with the series concluding on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Huskies took one game against Ohio, a 3-1 victory, as they are 3-3 through the first two weekends of conference play.
Graduate pitcher
Madison Carlson threw a career-best seven strikeouts the last time out while
Danielle Stewart led the team with a .556 average at the plate. Stewart and
Izzi Hanna are the only two Huskies hitting above .420 this season as five Huskies are above .324. Stewart leads the team with 26 hits and 19 runs, including 4 home runs, while Hanna and
Lia Nance each are 4-for-4 on stolen bases. Carlson and
Hannah Bolly each have three wins on the season while Carslon leads with 30 strikeouts.
Men's Tennis
Saturday, March 28: vs. UIC, 11 a.m.

NIU men's tennis is coming off a 2-0 weekend at home in conference play, defeating both Buffalo and Toledo. The Huskies downed the 2025 MAC champions Buffalo thanks to a clinch from
Federico Scotuzzi at No. 4. Scotuzzi has now won four consecutive matches.
NIU enters the week sitting atop the conference standings at 4-1, tied with Buffalo.
The Huskies defeated UIC earlier this month, winning 5-2. The Flames are 6-9 and last lost to Buffalo, 4-3. Judson has won two of its last three matches.
Women's Tennis
Sunday, March 29: at UMass, 12 p.m.
The Huskies dropped matches to Buffalo and Western Michigan this weekend, with both matches ending by score of 5-2.
Nataly Ninova and
Rebeca Garcia Miralles have been leading the way in singles play, with Garcia Miralles 9-1 in her last 10 matches while Ninova is 8-2.
NIU is 4-2 in road matches this season and split its first two conference road matches against Eastern Michigan and Toledo.
UMass enters this week at 4-0 in MAC play and winners of its last five. The Minutewomen only have three losses on the season, dropping matches to Boston College, No. 60 Dartmouth and No. 73 Harvard.
Track and Field

The Huskie women's track and field team begins its outdoor season this Saturday, March 28, at the Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational, hosted by Illinois State. NIU is returning to action for the first time since the MAC Indoor Championships where
Arianna Calloway earned the high jump title.
NIU won three events last season at Illinois State, including the 4x100-meter relay.
Kamiya Dendy won the high jump while
Malia Watkins won the 100 meters last year.
Competition will begin with field events at 10 a.m., with action on track slated to start at 12 p.m.
