DEKALB, Ill. -- Northern Illinois University men's basketball head coach Matt Majkrzak announced on Tuesday (April 22) the addition of Cal Klesmit (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) to the Huskie men's basketball program for the 2026-27 season. Klesmit is the fourth signee for the Huskies for next season, with more additions to come.
"Cal's shooting is the first thing that stands out to people who watch him, but it's his passing, confidence, and competitive nature that sets him apart," said Majkrzak. "He's very confident in not only his game, but in his team's ability to win. He's another lefty that is really crafty getting to the rim and his spots to score. Defensively he makes plays using his instincts to get steals and rebounds. He's another winner throughout his career, and we are very excited to continue coaching Cal at NIU."
Klesmit earned First Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors this past season at Northern Michigan after averaging 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. The 6-foot-2 Klesmit also shot 41.8 percent (94-of-225) from three-point range during his redshirt sophomore season with the Wildcats, starting all 35 games. Klesmit played in 55 total games in his two seasons at Northern Michigan.
