Huskie Men’s Basketball Inks Mykolas Ivanauskas

DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University men's basketball head coach Matt Majkrzak announced the addition of Mykolas Ivanauskas (Chicago, Ill./Sunrise Christian Academy) to the Huskie men's basketball program. Ivanauskas is the 12th signing for NIU for the 2026-27 season.

"Myk is coming off a great two-year stretch at Mercyhurst," said Majkrzak. "Adding a forward with Division I experience and success was very important to us. It's an added bonus that Myk is from Chicago and this was a place he wanted to be. As a player, Myk plays with an extremely high motor on both sides of the ball and produces at a high level. He played a year overseas and his IQ and feel for the game resembles many of the successful international players. We are thrilled to have Myk in red and black."

Ivanauskas comes to NIU from Mercyhurst where he averaged 7.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest this past season. The 6-foot-8 Ivanauskas shot 56 percent from the field for the Lakers while appearing in 32 games, including 31 starts. He helped lead Mercyhurst to a 17-win season and an appearance in the NEC Tournament championship game. As a freshman at Mercyhurst in 2024-25, Ivanauskas averaged 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest.
