DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis 2026-27 schedule is set, head coach René Vidal announced today. The Huskies will compete in three fall invites beginning in September before closing with the ITA Regionals in mid-October. The spring sees NIU play 13 of its 20 dual matches at home.

"Every season is a new opportunity to see who we are as leaders both on and off the court," said Vidal. "As a coaching staff, we couldn't be happier with the talent and character of this year's team."

The 2026 fall season kicks off at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic from Sept. 10-13 and NIU will host the River Forest Collegiate Invitational the following weekend on Sept. 18-19.

The Huskies joined the Horizon League on July 1 and will compete in the conference's fall tournament from Sept. 25-27. NIU has a two-week break before competing in the ITA Regionals from Oct. 14-20.

"Last year was great, but it's in the record books. As we move into the Horizon League, our focus is to dominate from start-to-finish and create historic results," said Vidal. "Our 2026-27 schedule positions us to play our best when it matters most."

When the calendar turns, the Huskies will look to ride momentum from 2026 in which they won 18 dual matches and finished the season with a conference championship appearance. NIU begins the season with a big test, traveling to Wisconsin on Jan. 24.

Beginning on Jan. 30, the Huskies will have a six-match homestand that includes Marquette and in-state opponents Chicago State and UIC running through mid-February. The team closes the month with a weekend road trip with stops at Omaha on Feb. 26 and Drake on Feb. 28.

NIU has a home doubleheader against Grinnell and Missouri Baptist on March 6 before hitting a break. The Huskies come back to face North Central on March 26 at home before Horizon League begins.

April begins with four consecutive road matches, beginning with new conference opponents Youngstown State on April 2, Cleveland State on April 3 and IU Indy on April 10. NIU will break up the Horizon League play with a road trip to Notre Dame on April 11.

The Huskies final four matches of the dual season will all be at home and includes three conference rematches. Youngstown travels to DeKalb on April 16 followed by Cleveland State paying a visit on April 17.

NIU plays Dayton on April 23 before closing the season against IU Indy on April 24.

The Horizon League Championship will be held from April 30 – May 2.
