LAS VEGAS, Nev. * Northern Illinois ended the Cliff Keen Invitational Saturday with a sixth place finish from Pat Castillo. "Pat wrestled some pretty tough matches," Head Coach Dave Grant said of Castillo's performance. One of those matches was for fifth place in the 125 pound class against Michigan's Mark Moos where Castillo was pinned.
The Huskies battled, but came up a bit short. "Overall, a pretty good performance by our team. I felt everybody wrestled hard. We had some close matches that could have gone either way. It's definitely some great competition out here. I'm proud of how our guys wrestled," said Coach Grant of the Huskies' performance.
NIU finished 24th, tied with Kent State for the top position among MAC schools competing at the event.
NIU's next event is December 8, 2006 at 7 P.M. against Northwestern at Evanston, Ill.
