Box Score
***Huskie running back Justin Anderson rushed for more than 150 yards for the fourth straight game, finishing with 163 yards on 29 carries. Anderson's 39-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave NIU a late lead and was his seventh touchdown (fifth rushing) of the year. Anderson had rushed for 168, 167 and 157 yards in his three previous games. He has scored at least one TD in four of the Huskies' six games this season and leads NIU in scoring and rushing.
***Northern Illinois did not allow its opponent to score in the first quarter for the fourth time this season. NIU also held Iowa, Southern Illinois and Eastern Michigan without a score in the first period.
***Marcus Perez returned to the field for the first time since injuring his shoulder versus Southern Illinois and recorded his longest kickoff return of the season (29 yards) and caught a season-high five passes for 63 yards and totaled 154 all-purpose yards on the day.
***Chris Nendick's first missed extra point, after a high snap disturbed the timing of the PAT unit, snapped a string of 32 straight made the NIU senior and was just the third extra point miss of his career. Nendick had a career-high string of 108 consecutive PATs made broken last year at Ball State. The normally reliable Nendick came into the game having missed only two PATs for his CAREER prior to today (148-of-150).
***Junior Chase Carter recorded his second interception of the season and now leads the Huskies in that category for the year. Carter is also the only NIU player to have any interception return yards as he has returned his two pickoffs for 120 yards.
***Freshman defensive tackle D.J. Pirkle earned his first career quarterback sack in the third quarter when he tripped up the Temple QB for a loss of 11. Pirkle ended the day with two sacks.
***Chris Nendick extended his school record consecutive games scoring streak to 43 with a third-quarter field goal.
***Northern Illinois played without two of its top receivers on the season in Britt Davis and Greg Turner. Turner is also the Huskies' regular holder on PATs and field goals.
***Safety Alex Kube had a season high 14 tackles on the day and had his fourth double-digit tackle day of the season and cornerback Melvin Rice's 12 stops were a career-best effort.
