Toledo 4, Northern Illinois 3 in PDF Format

Rockford, Illinois - One streak ends, while another one continues for the Northern Illinois men's tennis team, as the Huskies, for the second-straight match, lost a nail biter, dropping a 4-3 decision to the University of Toledo in a Mid-American Conference match at the Clock Tower Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon.

 

The 13-match winning streak of senior Alex Friesen (Vancouver, British Columbia/Burnaby Central) was snapped, as NIU's No. 2 doubles tandem fell to Nutthavit Likitkumchorn and Jared Miller, 8-4. Friesen, however, was victorious at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Chris Clark.

 

Huskie junior Brian Livingston (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) extended his winning streak to 12 matches with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Jared Miller at No. 1 singles. Livingston also teamed up with senior Adam Ford (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) for the 9-8 win over Sven Burus and Clark at No. 1 doubles.

 

With the victory, Toledo improves to 15-11 overall and 3-1 in MAC play, while the Huskies fall to 8-6 on the campaign and 1-2 in conference action.

 

Freshman Matt Hansen (Topeka, Kan./Miami Online (FL)) claimed the other singles win for the Huskies with the 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jay Miller at No. 5 singles.

 

NIU is back in action on Wednesday, April 16, as they welcome Chicago State to the Huskie Tennis Courts for a 1:30 p.m. (CST) first serve.
