DEKALB, Ill. - Junior Bryan Deutsch (Columbia City, Ind./Columbia City) suffered a 16-12 setback to the No. 4 seed Cyler Sanderson of Penn State at the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday afternoon at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.
Deutsch opened up a 5-2 lead on a takedown and escape. However Sanderson tied the match at 5-5 on an escape and reversal. With Deutsch trailing 12-9, the Huskies' 157-pounder executed an escape and a takedown to tie the match at 12-12. However, an escape and takedown gave the grappler from Penn State at 15-12 lead. Sanderson earned another point for riding time to score the four-point victory.
Deutsch will face Northern Iowa's Tyson Reiner in the wrestlebacks in Session II, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. CST. Deutsch will be looking to avenge a 21-5 loss when the two met Feb. 12, 2010 in Victor E. Court at the Convocation Center.
